Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra was among those around the NBA to pay their respects after the unexpected passing of Golden State assistant Dejan Milojevic.
Milojevic died of a heart attack Wednesday afternoon. He was 46. According to reporters in Toronto, Spoelstra opened his pregame press conference for Wednesday’s game the Raptors by offering condolences to the Milojevic family. He joined the likes of commissioner Adam Silver, who also released a statement on behalf of the league.
Milojevic suffered the heart attack the night before the Warriors were set to play at the Utah Jazz. The game was postponed as a result. Milojevic joined the Warriors in staff 2021 after a successful playing and coaching career in Europe . He was a native of Serbia, the same country as Heat forward Nikola Jovic and Denver Nuggets All-Star Nikola Jokic.
“We are absolutely devastated by Dejan Milojević’s sudden passing,” the Warriors said on a social media post. “This is a shocking and tragic blow for everyone associated with the Warriors and an incredibly difficult time for his family, friends, and all of us who had the incredible pleasure to work with him. We grieve with and for his wife, Natasa, and their children, Nikola and Masa.”
