Reports in Germany have suggested Liverpool are considering a move for Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong
A move for Jeremie Frimpong could benefit Liverpool in more ways than one if Arne Slot’s side can pull off a deal this summer.
It has been suggested in Germany the Reds are one of a number of European clubs tracking the right-back and are looking to take advantage of his £35million release clause, which is soon set to expire.
Frimpong played a starring role in Bayer Leverkusen going undefeated to win the Bundesliga for the first time in their history, finishing the season a remarkable 17 points clear of second-placed Stuttgart and 18 clear of Bayern Munich.
Capable of operating both on the right side of defence or midfield, Slot’s attacking style play would likely bring the best out of a player who chipped in with 14 goals and 12 assists in all competitions last term.
And it seems the 23-year-old himself would be open to an Anfield switch, having made his feelings clear on a potential transfer when speaking to Ziggo Sport earlier this year. “Liverpool? Great club, with history. That would be great. Who knows what the future will bring,” he said.
