Former NBA player, Lorenzen Wright was found dead today by what appears to be a self inflicted gun shot wound to the body, later was perceived by officers as to now be a homicide. According to police who were at the scene of Wright’s death.
Lorenzen Wright was 34 years old at the time of his death, and was nearly four months away from his 35th birthday. The sad part about this story is that Wright is survived by his six children!
Wright played at the University of Memphis for two seasons before declaring for the NBA Draft back in 1996. Where he was drafted No. 7 overall by the Los Angeles Clippers.
Wright played for four NBA teams over his career. He played with the Los Angeles Clippers, Atlanta Hawks, Sacramento Kings, Memphis Grizzlies and lastly Wright played for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2008-09 season.
Wright averaged 8.0 points and 6.4 rebounds during his 778 game, 14 year name career. Wrights best statistic season was the 2001-02 season while playing for the Memphis Grizzlies, averaging 12.0 points and 9.4 rebounds a game.
Wright will forever be missed by the many close friends and family. I will cherish seeing him play personally in Toronto a few seasons back while playing for Atlanta.
R.I.P. Lorenzen Wright
