Kyle Shanahan and the San Francisco 49ers came up just short in their attempt at winning a sixth Super Bowl title this past February against the Kansas City Chiefs. The fell in overtime. It was yet another disappointing end to a great season in Northern California.
Now with the 2024 NFL Draft here and some major questions surrounding the 49ers, general manager John Lynch must find a way to more depth. Here, we provide you with our final 49ers mock draft of 2024.
- Trade: 49ers trade Brandon Aiyuk to the Jacksonville Jaguars for 17th pick and 116th pick
San Francisco signed starting right tackle Colton McKivitz to a contract extension earlier in the offseason. It also has one of the best left tackles in that of Trent Williams. Neither of these players seem to be long-term option in Northern California. Williams is 35 years old. Meanwhile, McKivitz yielded an absolutely whopping nine sacks last season.
Mims has been linked to the 49ers a ton in the pre-draft process. The 6-foot-7, 340-pound offensive tackle has elite strength at the point of contact. His plus-level when it comes to pass protection and is dominate in the run game. He could potentially start at guard before potentially moving outside to replace either McKivitz or Williams.
We agree with Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Media here. The idea of San Francisco adding the fastest player in the 2024 draft to a core group of Deebo Samuel, Christian McCaffrey and George Kittle on offense for Brock Purdy makes sense.
Worthy wouldn’t be a luxury pick. As noted above, we’re mocking San Francisco to trade the talented Brandon Aiyuk. Getting someone to replace him who could be an immediate producer Day 1 while providing that over-the-top speed would be a goon for the 49ers.
