An NBA writer suggested that the Miami Heat should sign Brandon Ingram this summer from the New Orleans Pelicans.
Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley thinks Ingram fits in well with the Heat.
Buckley stated, “Bryan Ingram of the New Orleans Pelicans comes to mind when scanning the list of potential South Beach targets.” “He is the same age as Adebayo (26), and he can clear the air for Miami’s offence, which came in at number 21 in efficiency, as a supplementary creator and competent scorer. He may become available if the Pelicans decide to reconsider the Ingram-Zion Williamson combination following their early playoff departure.
The fact that Ingram isn’t a very good player probably helps the Heat as well, as they don’t have a lot of trade assets. But if there are Tyler Herro supporters in the Pelicans front office, they ought to have plenty for him. Herro, a young player (Jaime Jaquez Jr. or Nikola Jović), and an unprotected future first-round selection should be considered in a package that at least warrants a callback.
The Heat, who were unable to acquire both Damian Lillard and Jrue Holiday in the summer, may pull off a major deal this offseason.
Players “want to be associated with that organisation,” Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN stated. “Therefore, I believe Miami will be able to utilise their current assets to go out and acquire another All-Star-caliber player who perhaps has a stronger connection to Bam Adebayo given his age.”
For the Pelicans this season, Ingram averaged 20.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 5.7 assists while shooting 80.1% from the free-throw line, 35.5% from beyond the arc, and 49.2% from the field. In the last year of his deal, the former All-Star will earn $36 million the next season.
With the Lakers and Pelicans, Ingram, who started his NBA career with the Lakers, has averaged 19.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.3 assists over his career.
