Pittsburgh — Former Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Jesse James has returned to the NFL roster, signing the Las Vegas Raiders practice squad, the organisation announced.
James, 29, was the Steelers’ fifth-round choice in the 2015 NFL Draft and spent four seasons in Pittsburgh. From 2015 to 202018, he caught 120 balls for 1,189 yards and nine touchdowns before joining the Detroit Lions on a four-year, $22.6 million contract.
James lasted only two seasons with the Lions before being released following the 2020 season. He spent a year with the Chicago Bears and Cleveland Browns after being released. Since leaving Pittsburgh, he has played 58 games, catching 37 catches for 333 yards and three touchdowns.
Last season, James had a season-ending knee injury, but seems
must be healthy and prepared to reclaim his position on an active NFL roster. He will have the second half of the season to do so in Las Vegas.
