Bears mock draft: Ryan Poles adds another wide receiver and reracks a move from 2023 first aired on NBC Sports Chicago
The Chicago Bears will choose quarterback Josh Williams, the 2022 Heisman Trophy winner, in the “unofficial” draft. The Bears’ troubled three-year starter Justin Fields was sold to Pittsburgh by Chicago general manager Ryan Poles, making room in the Windy City for a new signal caller.
The Vikings unexpectedly managed to wriggle themselves into another first-round selection slot (#23),
so raising their chances of choosing a quarterback of the highest caliber. The dominoes are being positioned to fall in an intriguing and unforeseen way with little over a month until the draft.
Chicago Bears [via – Carolina]: QB – Caleb Williams, USC
The Bears’ strategy will become apparent with the trade of Justin Fields when the 2024 NFL Draft gets underway on April 25 at 8 p.m. Williams is a brilliant passer who surprises opponents with his impromptu ingenuity. He stands out from many of his colleagues with his ability to make plays with his feet, manage passes from unconventional angles, and pass effectively while on the move. But if the Bears select Williams, the first and most crucial victory he needs to achieve is taking over a locker room that was once dedicated to the memory of Justin Fields.
Any possibility Washington had of moving up for the aforementioned Williams is probably diminished by Chicago’s trade of quarterback Justin Fields. Luckily for the Commanders, there is another explosive quarterback with NFL passing ability and exceptional agility. Daniels can snap-throw deep passes with a swift flip of the wrist. He is a determined triggerman. In addition, he can go the distance when under duress and pursued out of the pocket because to his Olympic-caliber speed.
