Early in the 2024 NFL offseason, the Pittsburgh Steelers need to address several defensive issues.
They lacked depth at linebacker in 2023. Similar depth difficulties arose in safety as well.
The team requires a CB2.
Pittsburgh could also use some help on the defensive line.
T.J. Watt, Alex Highsmith, Elandon Roberts, and Cameron Heyward make up the team’s formidable front seven. They also received a good rookie season out of Keeanu Benton.
Following a terrible 2023 season, they may decide to part ways with Larry Ogunjobi in order to conserve cap space. If so, they may be looking for a veteran to replace him.
That replacement may be a defensive lineman who has received numerous accolades over his NFL career.
In his post on the greatest free agency interior linemen, PFF’s Brad Spielberger mentioned the Steelers as a possible destination for Philadelphia Eagles lineman Fletcher Cox.

Cox was once a top defensive lineman in the NFL. From 2014 to 2020, he was named to four All-Pro teams and appeared in six Pro Bowl games.
He isn’t at the same level now that he’s past 30, but he shown in 2023 that he still has plenty in the tank.
In his 12th year within the NFL, Cox remained an imperative portion of the Eagles’ defense. He played 66% of the team’s protective snaps indeed after the group included Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter within the final two drafts.
