Former Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel has suggested that Inter Miami great, Lionel Messi did more than Manchester City’s Erling Haaland to earn the 2023 FIFA’s Best Men title.
Recall that Messi earned the FIFA’s Best Men’s title on Monday in London.
The Argentina World Cup winner finished top of the three-man shortlist that also featured Haaland and Paris Saint-German’s Kylian Mbappe.
The 36-year-old did not attend FIFA’s Best awards presentation yesterday night in favour of sticking in America to train with Inter Miami.
Also, neither Haaland nor Mbappe were present at the event.
Speaking after Messi won the prize, Obi-Mikel was cited by Sky Sports News as saying when making his verdict:
“I think Messi did more than Haaland to win it.”
